Central City Park
Connecting Hamilton’s CBD to the Waikato River is the key objective of this project. Filtering out existing built forms and providing development below street level allows for unobstructed views from Victoria Street to the rivers edge. The precinct seeks to provide recreational and social focus for the working population and residents of Hamilton City.
On the drawing board
"This concept speaks to the aspirations for a vibrant, accessible and liveable city. This proposal references the natural landscape of the rivers edge and the network of gullies formed through the process of erosion."
The integration of built forms, landscape and
open space elevates a potentially great innercity space into a premier space infused with art, landscape and building. The space looks to fracture the land below through 'designed topography’ creating visual apertures to the river beyond.
