Feathers Planning Fitout

This fit out for Louise Feathers Planning is the result of a close collaboration between building owner, tenant and architect.   The design seeks to offer an alternative to conventional generic office space and challenge preconceived stereotypes about the type of space a planning and land development business would choose to inhabit.  

A willingness to explore unconventional spatial arrangements has led to a layering of spaces rather than conventional circulation patterns.  To enter the main workspace at the rear one must pass through a meeting room that is loosely defined by two sets of 3.4m high pivoting doors.  When this meeting room is in use an alternative route is provided via a secondary space containing a discretely hidden kitchenette.

A rich palette of dark steel, wood and raw concrete has been enhanced with mid-century furniture and silver computers to give an overall impression of business acumen, assurance and comfort to an office with an urban vibe."

Black rubber flooring, raw concrete and exposed services provide a backdrop to an eclectic mix of mid-century furniture, art and artefacts.  Service areas are concealed behind two rimu clad elements that run lengthways within the space.  The warmth of these timber elements is accentuated by the extensive use of black surfaces on the floor, walls and ceiling.   This rich palette is further enhanced by hints of copper which are introduced in the form of cappings and bespoke light fittings.
